The Clips traded a[n] historic amount of assets to acquire this guy so that world-class free agent Kawhi Leonard would agree to join the team.

Frankly, it might turn out the other way around--that the prospect of signing Kawhi Leonard got Paul George to demand a trade to the Clippers---and the Oklahoma City organization agreed to do just that, to preserve their reputation as a small-town team which, if you join us willingly, will never hold you against your will.

This is good  21st century professional athlete politics.
